Photography Club

We just got back from our trip yesterday! I was so exhausted and managed to do most of my work that I had missed on Friday. Hopefully I didn't miss to much in class.

The first day was quite long, we left the school around 8:30 and arrived at the National Park at around 12 where Ms. Bock and Mrs. Henderson checked in with the National Park to get everything in order for the following day. While we were there we had to chance to take some of our first photos. There were so many monkeys everywhere, they were going into any and all open windows scavenging for food. At one point they tried to go inside our bus! Luckily, we were able to close the doors before this happened. Once we were done with checking in, we started to head to Maili Saba, when we first got there we were shocked it seemed very nice and very small. That was one thing us girls who had four to a tent were worried about. After we ordered our lunch, which was very delicious and elaborate we grabbed our bags from the bus and we headed to our tents. Considering how small the tents looked they were quite spacious, there was a proper shower and everything! The only complaint for our room was that in the room that Allanah and I were staying in was very small and creepy. There was a scary babies crib! We had the rest of the afternoon to chill out, many of us started to wander around the camp and found an amazing spot where Dom set up his first time lapse of the trip. The sunset there was very beautiful!

Right before dinner we had our presentation that was given by Mr. Henderson which was very interesting, he explained in detail how to change all of your settings etc. It was very important presentation for those of us who did not know how to change all of those things. After his presentation we ordered our dinner which was even better than lunch! Once we all finished we all went to bed preparing for the long day ahead of us.

On Saturday, we woke up at 5:40 and got ready to leave at six. This was a very difficult task to do for us girls. Allanah and I were the last ones to make it to the bus, we even missed breakfast! As we were trying to walk to the bus Allanah had to guide me in order for me to not trip, this was due to the fact that I was unable to put my contacts in before we had to leave. As soon as we got on the bus I put them in. The first shots that I took did not turn out as great as I hoped I will be posting some pictures from my trip on the blog as well. At around 11:30 we stopped near what used to be a waterfall in the park. Where we had our lunch, which consisted of the best soup and sandwiches. We the continued back to the camp where we all chilled out by the pool after the long hot day. The pool was freezing cold but so refreshing. After relaxing for a few hours we all went and got our computers to edit and choose the photos that were to be chosen for the critique. The critique went rather well I really enjoyed seeing everyone's different styles and techniques.

On Sunday we all had a very big and yummy breakfast, and went off to finish packing and get ready to leave to head back to Nairobi. Later in Saturday we decided to go to a go-cart competition. Where we able to manipulate the speed of which the photo is taken. After about an hour, we hit the road again and headed to Nairobi. This was an amazing trip, I learnt many new things about my camera and how to get the best shot possible.

I wish I had joined this club when I moved here, it would have been very beneficial for myself and my photography.
